Figma #SP 87 Review Figma Sexy Commando Gaiden Masara Reveals Himself

I feel like trying to binge out a few reviews suddenly. I got a lot of new figures since the summer, but had no time to review them. For example this next figure was pre-ordered alongside Figma Iowa months ago.

This review is for Hananakajima Masaru from Sexy Commando Gaiden: Sugoi yo!! Masaru-san!

So Masara here is pretty different from most figmas. He's a he, not a school girl or the typical male figma of an armored character. Male figmas are pretty rare, but what sold me on him were his beyond exploitable accessories. Let's get this madness started shall we?

Right out of the box (he's a little too eager for this)

I'm going to save the accessories for last and go straight into his already absurd faces.

Faces:

His first face is a standard smiling expression. 

His second face is this really happy winking face. Why is Mami here and scared you ask? Oh you already know why :3

 And his third face is this passionate face with glowing eyes. I love this face! I don't know much about this series so I can't tell if these expressions are shot on, but I can say that they're very fun to mess around with.

Accessories: 

Let's look at this crazy junk already...

Wait I got an idea! Let's combine Accessories with Playability to show off his weird accessories in action! 

Playability:

Who would win in a fight?

A veteran Magical Girl capable of firing rifles at will or one sexy boi

*unzips pants*

Yes indeed Masara comes with a second pants piece to show his fly open. He even comes with a hand to simulate unzipping his pants...

You're probably thinking that things can't get anymore bizarre, cringy and weird right? Well they do fam. Check this out

"Marvelous!"

Masara comes with a small soda bottle and really big splash effect.. Let's see it from a normal angle.

 As you've already gathered, this accessory can be used to give the appearance of a golden shower.

 I drench your waifu! 

"WAHAHAHAHA"

Masara comes with a second hairpiece to allow his head to look fully up. Maki uses this opportunity to get some revenge while showing off the accessory. 

And finally Masara comes with this little mascot guy. I don't know his name, but he's cute. 

So yeah I love these wacky incredibly bizarre accessories. These of course make Masara very fun to use which equals great playability!

Collection Utility:

 I'm not sure how many people really want a quirky male figma like this. I love him, but I'm an a weirdo. Most people go to figma for cute girl figures not really dudes. I can safely say that between Masara and the older Egashira figma that I'm very happy with my few dudes. Those two guys feel made for each other.

(Though Maki doesn't like it much) 

Anyway having a few male figures is useful and Masara does that job well. He comes in 3rd place as far as male figures I own losing out to Egashira and Woody (who just have better faces overall). Still a boon to any collection with an abundance of school girls to pose with. 

Collection Utility: 8 of 10 

Staying Power:

 Similar to Iowa I don't use Masara that much lately. Egashira usually fills the void I need for male figmas. That being said I also really like Masara as a figure. He's really zany and whenever I've used him I have a blast engineering an inappropriate or some cases cute scene.

Final Thoughts:

 This figure is really awesome. He's really weird and makes for many MANY absurd photos. I don't know how hard he is to get (being an SP), but I would recommend him to any one just looking for a creepy figma that's totally out of the norm. 

Many months ago I pre-ordered these two figures to pose this way. It was an incredibly irresponsible use of money. Do I regret it? 

NOPE! NO REGRETS HERE!

Figma #330 Review! Figma Iowa busts in!

When the posts are infrequent that makes them more valuable - A blogger with no time to blog.

I pre-ordered the Iowa figma a long time ago. It cost a ton! Way more than the average figma, even more than Prinz Eugen. Is she worth it? Let's check her out!

Right out of the box

First off are her accessories!

Accessories:

Iowa has her cannons/boat attachment!

And that's literally it... (I tried to move her cannons a bit)

Here's a comparison shot between Iowa and Eugen's boat parts. The issue I have with Iowa's attachment is that its a little harder to attach than Eugen's. It also is a bit smaller which is weird since she's huge in comparison. I'm  alsoscared of breaking her cannons too so I haven't moved them much. I'm not sure what other accessories I'd have wanted for her (maybe American food to be honest).

Faces:

Her default face is a pleasant smiling face/happy

Her second face is the same face, but winking

Her third face is another winking face, but she's also sticking her tongue out in a sort of "teehee" or "Oops!" manner

And GASP I have her pre-order bonus face which is the same face with her eyes closed...

Ok so while I'm seeming really critical these faces actually work.. I have never seen an image of Iowa not happy. Literally in all of the fanart I've seen of her she's very happy. Thus, getting essentially 4 happy faces sort of works.

Playability: 

Iowa's chest was made for scenes like this

Iowa is alot of fun to play. You can pose her cannons ready for any challenge or perversely with her huge breasts. Personally I like posing her in her half damaged mode surrounded by the S.H. Figuarts flame effect.

Collection Utility: 

If you want a Kancolle girl you can find far cheaper ones than Iowa. Her huge boat part makes for a huge pricetag. Still she looks great on your desk with her cannons ready or just goofing around in silly poses.

Staying Power:

So oddly enough I started this review back in July and just fell off the face of earth due to work. This has given me some rare insight into how I feel about Iowa. I don't pose her or use her very much. She's much taller than almost every other figure too. Still I really like just having her and whenever I do use her I really enjoy her goofy faces and massive chest. Iowa may not be the most used, but she's one of my most loved.

Final Thoughts:

I'm hard pressed to recommend a figure that costs over $100 to anyone but the most serious Kancolle fan. Luckily in this case I can say that getting Iowa shows your devotion to America. Iowa is a glorious figure. You won't get sick of her, but if you due you can always pose her sinking due to poor internal management...

Figma #290 Review Figma Ted Allows for Shenanigans

So... you're not going to post again until next year at this point right? Well I've been using Figma Ted's accessories alot in recent pictures so I thought I'd offer him a very quick review also.

Faces/Accessories: 

Ted comes with multiple legs/arms so you can pose him Standing/Sitting. A beer bottle and a bong are also included. You probably know the only reason I bought this figure now hehe.

Ted doesn't really have faces. Instead he come with 3 mouths and adjustable eyebrows. It's pretty good for letting you pose multiple expressions.

Playing Around/Screwing Around:

Alright, it's time...

Time for the myriad of pictures enabled by Ted and his accessories!

Basically once you combine anime girls with alcohol and weed it becomes hilarious very quickly. I love posing all my figures drinking. The one issue is that the bong doesn't fit in a figma's gripping hand. Instead you need to place a gripping hand on the small handle and have them cradle it. I don't even know if that's how a bong works x_x

Playability/Screwing Around: 10 of 10

Collection Utility/Staying Power:

Ted's accessories haven't grown boring since I got him back in December. The only issue is that Ted himself isn't that compelling to me. I'm not saying I bought a figure just to get props, but I will say that the props are easily the best part of this figure. I haven't grown tired of them at least.

Final Thoughts?

So should you actually buy Figma Ted? Yeah mate, he's a great little figure to have. I may be enthralled with his accessories, but he's a cute little guy too. I would recommend him to figma collectors in general. Oh and I should admit that I haven't seen his movie, but if you're a fan of the movie you should consider this figure too xD
